Would you like to really make a difference and have your work appreciated by thousands of students, parents, teachers and school administrators worldwide?

Whether you have writing skills, graphic skills, software development skills, or simply have some time available, you CAN contribute to making Center even easier to use, more attractive and more powerful.

These are some of the projects we are looking to staff with volunteers, but we would also welcome any other suggestions:

  • translations in foreign languages - it only takes a few hours to fully translate Centre SIS in a foreign language ... head over to http://translate.centresis.org and start translating today!
  • improving the documentation - Centre SIS does so much, it is sometimes hard to find our way around ... but you can help us guide our users: right from within Centre, select the 'Resources' module, browse the 'Documentation' and click the 'Edit this Page' button on top to start making changes!
  • styling the user interface - the Centre user interface sure needs a lick of paint ... be it more attractive icons, colorfull skins, or web 2.0 effects, anything would help!
  • developing additional modules - we have been asked many times to integrate eLearning, student portfolio, a workflow engine, asset management or other usefull features into Centre SIS, but lack the time and resources to do so. Give us a hand and let's make it happen together!

How do I install Centre SIS?

Installing of Centre SIS is pretty easy. We assume you have set-up your Web site, and it is accessible with your browser. Download Centre SIS, unzip it and upload/copy the files into the directory you Web site points to.

You then need to create a database in PostgreSQL, use the provided script to initialize it, and enter all connection parameters in the 'config.inc.php' file located in the root folder. This file also contains your general site parameters, and modules you want to activate, so edit any settings that might be relevant for your site.

Fire-up your web browser and you are good to go!

For full details on the installation process and configuration options check out the Centre SIS online documentation, in the Installation and Configuration section.
